Antique Tabriz Carpet
Product inquiry form
This spectacular over-size antique 19th century Tabriz rug is decorated allover with a highly stylized and elegant ‘garden of paradise’ design. Symmetrically placed bouquets of roses and garlands of dainty blossoms fill in the space defined by the outlines of swirling, large, saz-style leaves. The main border, adorned with classical floral heads and leafy vine motifs is equally elegant and its more humble scale helps emphasize the boldness of the interior.
This lush and sprawling portrayal of botanical elements is extremely well executed down to the most minuscule motif. The very fine weave, that creates a porcelain like surface, brings out the detail so marvelously. The restrained color palette, which includes cerulean blue, sand, ivory and terra-cotta against a dark indigo, is so deftly used to capture the light, reflect it and highlight the outlines that there is an extraordinary glow to the entire carpet which creates an immense visual appeal and depth.
This antique over-size Tabriz is a rare treasure with its sprawling size, extraordinarily fine-weave at the highest possible standard and very high decorative appeal thanks to its all-over classical design and warm, glowing palette. It could easily be the foundation piece for modern and classical interiors with its urban flair, elegance and sophistication.
