This impeccable early 20th century antique over-size Kerman is a fascinating kaleidoscope of exceptional colors and superbly detailed florals. The extremely detailed field boasts an all-over pattern of swirls upon swirls of dainty, delicate and varied blossoms encircling larger palmettes, irises, lotuses, peonies and rosettes. These larger floral heads are also connected by long, curvilinear stems creating elliptical medallion-like shapes. There is an overall sense of gentle flow to the entire field. The inner guard strip and the main border are also very elaborately decorated with floral cartouches and large, angular leaves inlaid with blossoms. The superb quality of craftsmanship shows itself in the incredible detail of the design and the extremely finely woven texture.

The exquisite colors of this rug seem to have been chosen to shimmer and glow.
