
Antique Caucasian Akstafa Rug

Our Oriental, Persian Rugs are all authentic and elegant, each antique piece with a history woven into it. The true Akstafa rugs is related to the Shirvan and are often called Shirvan-Akstafa. Many Akstafa rugs will have a traditional large birds on the field. Or bird-like creatures with a long neck and a peacock's tail and a bottom like the teeth of a handsaw. Located in the Northwestern part of Azerbaijan and today is a major source of new rugs with neo-Caucasian patterns. Some Akstafa rugs are said to have distinctive structural features, including materials that are S-spun and Z-plied, the reverse of what is most usually found in rug wools.
