Description: This week’s rug featured at Fred Moheban Gallery is an antique Mohtasham Kashan from Central Persia circa 1880. Mohtasham was the most renowned and important workshop in Central Persia during the time. They are known for their illustrious Kirk wool that is as soft as velvet. This piece depicts an elaborate medallion with great attention to detail and has a wonderful patina. This particular Mohtasham is far more superior than others woven during the period. The quality of the weave is extremely fine, and the rug has the handle of a silk. This antique Montasham Kashan rug is in mint condition and would be an important addition to any private collection or a beautiful statement piece in any interior.
